Hawthorne Hill Nature Center in Elgin is seeking accreditation for its east-side trail to become a certified forest therapy trail, which are designed to support slow-paced, sensory-driven wellness experiences rather than physical exercise or hiking. The only other certified trail in Illinois is in Quincy.
