Arrests were made in a series of South Florida armed robberies.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Robbery Bureau arrested one individual responsible for an armed robbery spree and another individual who acted as his accomplice in one of the incidents.

According to investigators, the series of armed robberies took place on October 13th in South Dade. At approximately 7:15am, the duo entered a food mart, brandished a firearm at the store clerk, forced him to open the register, and stole U.S. currency along with several other items. Later that same day, additional armed robberies occurred: an e-bike was stolen from an MDSO School Crossing Guard as she finished her shift; a tip jar containing U.S. currency was taken from a smoke shop; and U.S. currency was stolen from two additional victims working at a food truck. None of the victims were injured during these incidents, according to local law enforcement.

Through investigative means, Miami-Dade detectives identified 34-year-old Alexander Reguera as one of the individuals involved in the food mart robbery. With assistance from the MDSO Robbery Intervention Detail, he was taken into custody without incident. The follow-up investigation revealed that 29-year-old Edgar Montanez-Pina was also involved in the same armed robbery and was responsible for the three other incidents. He was located and taken into custody by detectives from the MDSO Robbery Bureau Special Investigations Squad. Both individuals, who are convicted felons, were arrested and charged accordingly.

Detectives believe the individuals may have been involved in additional, similar incidents in South Florida. If anyone believes they have been a victim, please contact the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Robbery Bureau at (305) 471-2142 or Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-8477 (TIPS).
